One of the most common fears of incoming freshmen is the dreaded "Freshman Fifteen" that every first-year student must gain. However, one Hartford freshman has a different story. "I lost fifteen pounds" Other freshman interviewed agreed wholeheartedly with Sarah, stating that they had, if anything, lost weight over the course of their freshman year. Another freshman added, "I think it could be fact if people just don't care and just go party and stuff, but I haven't got it so, it's a myth for me".
The sophomore slump, however, held more ground with students. One sophomore describes how the sophomore slump has taken its toll on his studies. "Well, grades are slipping. I don't know what I'm going to do with my life." So is the sophomore slump myth or fact? "Fact, because I'm living it." Our seniors spoke of similar results for the well-known disease senioritis. One senior said, "It's completely fact, I'm actually a five-year student but I already have senioritis. This is my first senior year and I don't really want to do anything. I didn't go to any of my classes this morning".Back to Main Page
