If basketball games were 12 minutes long, the Hartford's men's basketball team would have a record of three wins instead two. But unfortunately for the Hawks, the last 8 minutes of their match against Sacred Heart turned a favorable outcome to a bitter defeat.
The Hawks started the game well shooting the ball 9-26, 35 percent from the field. Point gurard Joe Zeglinski started the game with two three-pointers to start the game off. The Sacred Heart Pioneers shot only 6-21,and 29 percent from the field. The Hawks had built a strong lead of 25-18.
The Hawks had continued to build their lead to twenty with yet another three-pointer by Joe Zeglinski, his fifth one of the night. But a lay-up by Stan Dulaire and 30 second timeout inspired the Pioneers to go on a 17-1 run to reduce the Hawk's lead to only two points.
After the Hawks had scored a mid-range bucket, Sacred Heart responded with a three pointer with twenty-four seconds left on the clock. But after a late turnover by Zeglinski and a made throw, the Hawks didn't have an oppurtunity to regain the lead they had inevitably lost.Back to Main Page
