A first year student has been arrested for allegedly assisting the two suspects accused of holding two other students at gunpoint inside their dorm room.

Hartford Police arrested Mordehay Shindler of New York City this afternoon in connection to the altercation that took place early Saturday morning. They say Shindler is not one of the two suspects being sought after for the attempted robbery.

According to an email sent out to the University community, Shindler allegedly gave the suspects access to the residence hall where the attempted robbery took place, then helped them find their way across campus to another residence hall and then to their car, which they used to leave campus.

He has since been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree and conspiracy to commit home invasion.

Early Saturday morning, two individuals knocked on a door in B complex and forced their way in, saying they were looking for marijuana.

One suspect carried what appeared to be a pistol; the other was wearing a white face mask. One of the occupants in the room was struck during the robbery attempt but did not require medical care.

The victims fled the room and went to another residence hall to contact Public Safety. Hartford Police were called to join the investigation. It is confirmed that the two suspects are not students at the University of Hartford, and that they left campus. The investigation into apprehending them continues.

Public Safety and Hartford Police continue the investigation and ask students to call Public Safety at (860)-768-7985 if they saw, heard, or know anything related to the incident. All calls will be kept strictly confidential.

In a totally unrelated incident, a non-University student was also arrested this morning.

Daylin Robertson, 21, of New York, was charged with burglary, multiple counts of larceny, home invasion, possession, and sale of marijuana and possession and sale of a controlled substance.

Robertson allegedly stole multiple laptops, cell phones, electronics, clothing, and cash from several rooms in a dorm. All of the items were recovered and will be returned to the owners after a police inventory is completed.
